Selecting A Seller on Ali Express
- No brands / fakes or knockoffs for example Nike

- Products with over 300 orders
Products with a higher demand show that they are reliable and that the seller can deliver, importing products with lower orders put you at risk as you cannot gauge the quality of the product or the supplier.
- Products with over 4.5-star rating
Because you are the middle man unless you actually purchase the item for personal use, it is unlikely that you can know the quality of the product, therefore selecting one with a higher rating, ensures that we are offering best quality to our customers.
- Low prices with high profit margins
Once you have ticked all of the above, it is important that you look for items with a higher margin for profits, we have ensured the quality of the product and the supplier, now we need to select those that can earn a higher yield for our store. The lower the price the higher we can sell it for.
- Check product images on google (must be original)
Search the product on Google, copy the name of the product and search on google images, we want to make sure that there are no duplicates of the same item, or that the product is not a knock off brand.
- Communicate with the supplier
Before you purchase the item on Ali express, on the comments section let them know that you are drop shipping and they should replace any invoices with your logo and store details, this will help for brand identity.
Replies from the supplier are usually within 24 hours or less.
Adding a product to Shopify
- Write your own product descriptions – google ignores duplicate content
Don’t copy from AliExpress, google search will ignore duplicate content, it must be original and come from your own words, this will boost rankings on the search engine.
- Let customers know about delivery times
Be honest about delivery times, most people are willing to wait if the product is worth waiting for, a good example would be novelty items such as; ‘rare game of thrones mugs’ – ensure that you have an FAQ’s page on your website to address frequently asked questions, you will save hours in time replying to customer emails.
- Use an order tracking app – so customers know the status of the package
People want to know where their item is, using epacket will ensure that they have a tracking number, always refer the tracking number details to the customer so they can track their package.
- Offer free shipping
This will be an incentive to buy from you and will also separate you from other sellers, choose products that allow room for the cost of shipping.
- Price products accordingly (twice the cost to buy)

- Add products to the store with apps – Oberlo or Expressfy
Oberlo will save you huge amounts of time, Oberlo is a Shopify plug-in which allows you to simply import products from Ali Express. - Have a Excel spread sheet with all the products on your store

- A link to the product listing on Ali express
it makes easier to locate, buy and track price changes, or just use Oberlo.
- Let the supplier know you are drop shipping at checkout
- Leave a message saying “we are drop shipping please do not include invoices or promotions in the package”.
- Depending on processing times, you will receive ”an order received confirmation email”.
- Click the link on the email and get the tracking number.
- Head over to Shopify Admin to fulfil the order and enter the tracking number (this is for your customer to track the order)
- The customer waits for the order / inform Ali express that the order was received by the customer/resolve problems with the supplier or offer a refund to the customer (protect your brand).
If you are only selling one Item
If you intend to sell one type of item with slight variations, for example, colour/ material/style, then paying for a Shopify store may not be the best option, to solve this issue you need a front-end page where you can offer the product
Behind that page you will have a ‘sales funnel’; this is where you upsell the other variations of the product after the customer has taken up the front-end offer.
Lets say you were selling two types of e-cigarettes one with more air flow (which costs more) and a starter e-cigarette ( which cost less).
The front end product would be the e-cigarette which costs less, the customer makes a purchase, just before they complete the order they are upsold the higher priced product at a ‘’DISCOUNT’’
– this is the sales funnel, a simple page front end page with a backend sales process.

Usually, people will use sites such as Lead Pages, however, with Lead Pages you are limited to what you can do, as you still need to incorporate the other tools needed to fully complete your sales process.
