A List is a segregated way to differentiate the types of messages and subscribers in your AWeber account. You would use lists to manage the content you send to specific customers, depending on what they have signed up to receive. You do not want to send email messages that people have not signed up for. AWeber will allow you to create a sign-up form with your product promotion and link it to the specific type of email list for those customers.
You can also think of a list as a way to separate subscribers with common interests into different groups for easier targeting. Whenever anyone signs up to your list, they are doing so to receive a specific kind of information from you. For example, if you have a pet grooming business, it is likely that you would have a list for cats and a list for dogs. When someone signs up to receive more information on grooming their dog, they would be added to the dog list and vice versa.
The best thing about Aweber is that you do not need a website to capture customer email addresses. The sign-up forms that you create, can be hosted internally by Aweber, this means that small businesses can simply create a leaflet and place the signup form link inside.
The customer will then sign up with there name and email address, where the Aweber auto-responder will go to work, sending them your offers and promotions.
To create your first email message, simply login into your Aweber account and navigate to the green ‘’ create messages button’’ top right corner in the dashboard homepage. Select drag & drop builder, fill in the template with the content you want, by dragging and dropping then save your work when finished and boom! You have created your first message.
When you have around ten messages created with your promotion and offers, you are then able to add theses to your Aweber follow-up series, this will send them out automatically to your customers as they subscribe, you can chose the frequency of when they can receive them, for example daily, weekly or monthly.
You can create as many lists as you want, start with a sign-up form promoting a discount or freebie, the goal of the form is to capture the customers email address. Create the list for the offer, compose the messages for the follow-up series and let the auto-responder go to work!
Aweber is user friendly “everything is drag & drop” in the dashboard homepage, navigate to the top ribbon and select sign up forms, click the green ‘create message button’ and chose a template, compose the form then save your work once finished.
Go to step 2 where you can give it a name and assign a thank you page, save the form again and continue to step 3: Aweber will give you three options, you can install the form yourself by pasting the code into your website, or you can use the help of a web designer or simply use the form as a landing page by sending your customers to the link to sign up.
